Cloisonné is one of Beijing's most distinctive traditional arts and craft. Imported to China during the Yuan Dynasty, this process flourished during the Ming Dynasty. The blue glaze being used was a breakthrough which glistens like a rich sapphire – noble and magnificent and gained its name 'cloisonné'. For contemporary artifacts, cloisonné can be a very special finish.
